Rigid Box-Beam Aluminum Frame — The Type 196 series uses a rib-reinforced, wide profile frame that resists warping and twisting, increasing durability. 

Machined Measuring Surfaces — Top & bottom faces are milled (for 24-inch size) to allow accurate reference surfaces for scribing or positioning. 

Three Acrylic Vials — One horizontal (level) vial + two vertical (plumb) vials. These are permanently calibrated, epoxy-locked, crystal clear, with internal spring-steel hairline indicators. They are guaranteed for life and don’t need re-calibration.
